This is the title on the recipe card my Dad printed up when we were given our pound cake pans.  The pan that is traditionaly used is actually a loaf pan, mine is very much like this one with out the lines.

5  eggs

1 3/4 cups   Sugar

1/2 lb  Butter (two whole sticks)

2 cups  Flour

Pre-heat the oven to 350.  Line your pan with parchment paper or grease.  In a separate bowl beat the eggs.  In the mixer cream the butter and sugar.  Add the eggs and flour a little at a time, starting and ending with eggs.  Batter will be very thick, add to lined pan.  Bake for an hour and ten min.  Very yummy served warm or cooled, with fruit and whipped cream, or any other way you could imagine!
